Austin Community College is a two-year community
college providing university transfer, workforce
training, continuing education, and adult basic
education opportunities. ACC is a major contributor
to the quality of life and economic prosperity
of Central Texas.
ACC was founded in 1973 as part of the Austin
Independent School District. Today, the college
functions as an independent institution and operates
six campuses throughout Greater Austin as well
as 40 other locations in ACCs service area. Set
and periodically revised by the state Legislature,
ACCs service
area encompasses all of the following counties:
Travis, Hays, Bastrop, Caldwell, Blanco, Gillespie,
and parts of both Gonzales and Williamson Counties.
The ACC District, composed of areas that support
the colleges operations through an ad valorem
tax, include the Austin, Del Valle, Leander, and
Manor independent school districts.
